2025 Green Race Update
Don’t Call It A Comeback. The Greatest Show In All Of Sports is back — but this season, we’re rolling with the tides.
With the hydro station still offline following Hurricane Helene, the Green Race will operate under a waiting-period format this year. That means we’ll be watching the weather, reading gauges, and waiting for a flow window before we drop the hammer.
How It Works
- The waiting period starts on Monday October 27th, 2025.
- The race will be held on the first Saturday (starting November 1) the river is at a raceable flows.
- We’ll be racing when the water level on the Green River is flowing over the dam in the range of 100.3 to 100.8 feet. While we may still race outside of this window to some degree this will be the range organizers are focused on.
- The exact course and format will be determined Thursday night before the chosen race day based on water levels and safety conditions.
When Will We Know?
As soon as the stars (and the flow) align, we’ll make the call. Please sign up to here get the official announcements. Each Monday starting October 27th at high noon we will send a message with a probability of the race happening that Saturday. The message will contain one of two messages:
Red Flag = Minimal Chance of the race happening. This does not mean the race won’t happen that Saturday, but it is very unlikely.
Yellow Flag = Conditions are looking good for a race. Again this does not mean the race is happening that Saturday but close attention is warranted.
Once water levels are confirmed, we’ll post the official Green Flag announcement Thursday ahead of race day.
WHEN THE GREEN FLAY IS ANNOUNCED REGISTRATION WILL OPEN.
